KOCHI: A strong investigation is continuing on the case of a hacking operation that took away the usernames, passwords and e-mail addresses on the state police's main computers and applications. The hacking was done using a computer or similar device with an IP address of 137.97.82.48. The police are closing all doors of escape and are sure about nabbing the brain behind this move within days' time.
The hacking took place on or before September 9. The hacking took place on the computer of Ernakulam Town North Police Station. A case has been registered by the North Police on the instructions of the State Police Chief.
Usernames and passwords of the CMO Portal, Crime Drive, I Apps, Poll App, Police Station Website, and Spark were hacked in the process. An FIR has been registered under Sections 43 and 66 of the IT Act. The cyber police have started an investigation.
Such a widespread hacking attack on the state police department is unprecedented. It was the Cyber Operations Department of the Police Headquarters that first discovered the hacking attempt. A report was submitted to the police chief apprising the issue and later an investigation was ordered.
