NADAPURAM: Men accused of gang-raping a minor Dalit girl were sentenced to life imprisonment and fine. The second accused was sentenced to 30 years rigorous imprisonment. Moilothara Thekke Parambath Sayuj (26), Adukkath Parachalil Shibu (36), Moilothara Manjeemal Rahul (24) and Kayakodi Akkal Paloli Akshay (22) were sentenced by Nadapuram Fast Track High Speed (POCSO) Court Judge M Shuhaib. Accused 1, 3 and 4 namely Sayuj, Rahul and Akshay were sentenced to life imprisonment. The first accused Sayuj was fined Rs 1,75,000 and the third accused Rahul and the fourth accused Akshay were fined Rs 1,50,000. The second accused Shibu has to pay a fine of Rs.1 lakh in addition to 30 years rigorous imprisonment.

On September 4, 2021, Sayuj, his girlfriend and his friend Shibu reached Janaki forest in Maruthonkara panchayat on one bike and Akshay and Rahul on another bike. As per the case, the girl was gang-raped after mixing drugs in a cool drink and later abandoned. The incident came to light when the police and local people rescued the girl who tried to commit suicide by jumping into the Kuttyadi river due to her depression of being forced to commit the crime even after the incident. Then the Kuttyadi police registered a case and started investigation. The accused were caught in the investigation conducted using scientific evidence and others. Nadapuram ASP Nidinraj was in charge of the investigation. Cybercell expert MK Suresh led the scientific investigation. The prosecution produced 75 documents and 11 exhibits. 30 witnesses were examined. Special Prosecutor Manoj Arur appeared for the prosecution.
