THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 22 cases have been registered for trying to create religious rivalry through social media following the blast in Kalamassery. The cases are against Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Anil Antony and online media activist Shajan Skaria. In most of the FIRs, it is mentioned that there was an attempt to instigate rivalry against a religious group and create a riot by disrupting the peaceful atmosphere. Sections 153 and 153A of the IPC and 120 of the Police Act have been imposed. 153A is a non-bailable section.

Just yesterday, the police asked companies including Google and Facebook to remove 150 posts. Of these, 38 was removed yesterday. Remaining posts will be removed within 3 days. After the Kalamasery blast, most of the hateful posts were removed by users after the accused surrendered.
