Balachandra Menon criticized Keraleeyam program. Balachandra Menon expressed his dissatisfaction with the film festival held alongside the Keraleeyam program. He was upset because none of his films, despite 45 years in Malayalam cinema were included in the film festival.

Menon pointed out that even movies not screened in theaters are being showcased in this festival as representatives of Malayalam cinema. He questioned why none of his films like "Achuvettante Veed," a feminist film and "Chiriyo Chiri" a groundbreaking comedy film were included. He also mentioned "April 18," questioning its exclusion from the festival.

He highlighted his extensive collaboration with government initiatives like KSFDC and Chitranjali mentioning his award-winning film "Samantharangal" shot at Chithranjali. Menon expressed his disappointment that even this film was not part of the film festival and he asked why such a prestigious work was left out.

Menon also raised questions about the absence of films promoting family values and nationalism. He emphasized that he raises these concerns as a responsible citizen not out of personal grudges. Menon concluded by stating that he was disheartened to make these comments on the day Keralapiravi and called on those responsible to reflect on their decisions. He underlined that his intent is not to hold grudges but to stand up against injustice.
