KOCHI: Despite the confirmation that Dominic Martin acted alone in the Kalamassery blast, lingering questions have prompted a special team to investigate the possibility of external motivation. The team is exploring why the blast was filmed on the accused's mobile phone and for whom. They are also scrutinizing whether the video was created as part of external influence.

The investigation involves a thorough examination of Dominic's one-year call records, close contacts, and places he visited. They are particularly interested in a call that came to his mobile on the day of the blast. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has raised doubts about Dominic's social media accounts, as indicated by the special team's findings.

Critical information regarding Dominic's foreign connections has also been acquired. It is reported that he attempted to trigger the explosion just before the start of prayers on the final day of the regional convention of Jehovah's Witnesses. When the remote failed to detonate the bomb, Dominic entered the hall and manually activated it. Investigators suggest that Dominic may have resorted to a different form of attack had the explosion not been successful.

Dominic has admitted that he contemplated suicide due to the immense stress he experienced after the explosion. This was revealed during questioning as to why he went to Kodakara after the incident. Despite renouncing his faith in Jehovah's Witnesses, his wife and children remained affiliated with the organization, intensifying his animosity towards it.

The investigating officer noted that despite learning of three casualties in the explosion, Dominic remained remarkably composed. However, his mental state has significantly deteriorated, with Dominic currently in custody at Kakkanad District Jail and refusing to leave his cell. He has reportedly lost his appetite.
