KALAMASSERY: After a student of Kalamassery Polytechnic college student took his own life, his classmates carried out protests at the campus. An effigy of the teacher was burnt. Third year computer engineering student C.P. Prajith committed suicide on Wednesday.
The protesters alleged that the teacher's mental torture was the cause of the suicide and demanded an investigation. Although the principal informed that an inquiry report would be prepared, there was no end to the protest. The students said that they will continue their strike until action is taken. Considering the possibility of conflict, the police arrived in two vehicles.
Prajith, whose attendance was low, committed suicide after the head of the department told his parents that he would not be re-admitted to the second year. Students also say that Prajith's mother left the college crying. But the college explained that they only informed the parents about the lack of attendance.
Prajith is the son of Prasad and Mini of Chithiraparampil in Perumpadappu. The cremation took place yesterday at the Palluruthi crematorium.
