THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan received a death threat. The control room of the police headquarters received the call last evening at 5.30 pm. The Museum police have registered a case.

A probe conducted found that a school student is behind the call. A 12-year-old boy from Ernakulam called the police headquarters and threatened to kill the chief minister. Apart from the threat, he also hurled abuses.

The student said the number was given in case of emergency and called the police headquarters jokily. The police said there is no mystery in the incident.

The threat call came when the state was on high alert in the wake of the Kalamassery blast. Security has also been beefed up in the context of state government's Keraleeyam programme. The bomb squad had inspected all the places in the railway station, airport and parks. An inspection was conducted in all places where people congregate.

Vigilance was heightened in shopping malls, theaters and markets.
