NEW DELHI: The Kerala government approached the Supreme Court against Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. The writ plea filed mentioned that the Governor is delaying the decision on the bills passed by the Assembly. The government pointed out that due to the delay in signing the bills, the work of the state government is being disrupted and the Governor's action is unconstitutional.
The plea was filed last night by the standing council of the state government C K Shashi. The plea demanded that the Governor be instructed to take a timely decision on the bills. Presently states like Telangana, Punjab and Tamil Nadu have approached the Supreme Court against the Governor. Along with this, the plea of the Kerala government will also be considered.
Stalin government approached the Supreme Court against Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi the other day. The state government approached the Supreme Court alleging that the Governor's decision on the bills passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly is being delayed. The Tamil Nadu government in the plea has alleged that the governor is behaving like a political opponent against the elected state government.
The plea also alleged that the Governor's act of not signing bills passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly, government orders and policies forwarded, is unconstitutional and arbitrary. The Tamil Nadu government also alleged that Governor Ravi is not signing files affecting the day-to-day operations of the government and files regarding permission for prosecution in criminal cases.
