KOZHIKODE: With the Lok Sabha elections just a few months away, the CPM is trying to set the stage for a new political equation in Kerala. The CPM made the political move by inviting the Muslim League to the Palestine solidarity rally to be organized in Kozhikode even as it avoided the Congress.

The other day, the party invited Samastha to the seminar. Muslim League General Secretary ET Mohammed Basheer said that his party would participate if invited to the rally. Mohammed Basheer said that this is a time for everyone to stand together and pointed out that the situation of non-participation in the Uniform Civil Code seminar is different.

The Palestine solidarity rally and general meeting will be held at Sarovaram Trade Center in Kozhikode under the leadership of CPM on November 11. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the rally and prominent people from political, religious, social and cultural fields will participate.

CPM District Secretary P Mohanan said that the CPM was welcoming everyone with an open mind. "CPM was aware of the League's difficulty in the uniform civil code issue. We will invite them officially to the Palestine solidarity rally. Meanwhile, the position taken by League National General Secretary ET Mohammed is welcome. The whole world saw what happened when some leaders of the Congress were invited to the CPM seminar. We won't let that repeat," P Mohanan said.

Don't know about League's decision, says K Sudhakaran

KPCC president K Sudhakaran said that he did not know about Muslim League leader ET Mohammed Basheer's statement that the League would participate in CPM's Palestine solidarity rally.

"I am not aware of what Mohammed Basheer said. I will speak about it after learning about it. The decision taken by the UDF is still there and it applies to everyone," he said.
