THRISSUR: The controversy over the recounting of votes for the Kerala Varma College Union Election has not yet subsided. Meanwhile, another dispute broke out over the shifting of materials, including ballot paper, from the strong room to the office. The college authorities explained that the items in the strong room were shifted as it is a lab. KSU demanded that the ballot papers should not be shifted to the office room.
Meanwhile, there was a slight conflict in the KSU's protest march towards the Cochin Devaswom Board headquarters. Police arrested the activists and removed them.
"I had called the principal. I called the principal after the students called me and complained. I asked him what the matter was. I also directed him to follow the rules and conduct the counting of votes legally," Cochin Devaswom Board president Dr MK Sudarshan said.
"The recounting was put on hold following a dispute. However, the Devaswom president directed us not to stop the recounting. Recounting resumed at the direction of the Electoral Officer. I have not received a petition from the students seeking re-election," Principal TD Shobha said.
