floating-bridge

KOLLAM: The efforts to establish a floating bridge at Kollam beach are in the final stage. The tender process for the bridge extending to the sea and aimed at tourists has been completed.

The floating bridge is made of high density polyethylene plastic. Once the technical issues related to the installation site are resolved, the work will start soon. The first idea was to establish as part of Thangassery breakwater tourism. The inspection conducted by the Kerala Adventure Tourism Society had pointed out minor technical errors. Then, if necessary, the bridge will be constructed at another location on Kollam Beach itself. The contractors of the project will construct and maintain the bridge. A share of the revenue will be given to the government.

The district tourism promotion council is trying to start the project before December when more tourists arrive. The objective behind the installation of floating bridge at Kollam beach is to maximize the potential of beach tourism. At present there are floating bridges on Kozhikode and Kochi beaches. Minister Mohammad Riyas announced the floating bridge at the inauguration of Thangassery Breakwater Tourism Project.
