TIRUR: A woman and her friend were arrested in the case of threatening a youth and extorting money, demanding compensation for the abortion after the woman became pregnant. Mubashira Jumaila (24), a native of Wayanad and a resident of Kottakkal, and her friend Arshad Babu (30) were arrested by the Tirurangadi police. The two were arrested on the complaint of a 27-year-old resident of Peruvallur Karuvankal Nadukkara.
The complaint was filed by a youth from Peruvallur running a business in Kozhikode. Mubashira had worked in his company earlier. Meanwhile, the police said that Mubashira, who had sex with the youth became pregnant. She later aborted the child. Mubashira constantly threatened the youth over phone demanding Rs 15 lakh not to disclose anything to anyone. With this, the youth paid Rs 50,000 to the woman at a hotel in Kolappuram. The woman continued her threat for money. The youth later approached the Malappuram district police chief with the complaint.
The accused were summoned saying that the balance amount would be paid and then were arreste. When she was working in the youth’s company, she said that she was a BDS student. However, during police investigation it was found it to be fake. The accused were produced in the court.
