KOCHI: It is common to witness people fretting about whether they turned off the gas cylinder before locking up and leaving their homes. Now, two students of Sanjo E.M High School in Vengoor are saying that people won't have to worry about these kinds of things in the future. Class 10 students Athul A. Rejudev and Vaishnav Babu introduced a new system for this in the working model section of the Revenue District School Science Fair.

The two students developed a system in such a way that people will receive alert messages on their phones with the integration between the sensor installed at home and the app on the mobile phone. In the event of a gas leak at home, the sensor will identify it and send out an email and phone message to the members of the house. Another striking feature of this system is that upon receiving the alert message, one will be able to turn off the regulator of the gas in the house through the mobile app itself. If there is a gas leak, you will be notified within seven seconds.

The system can be connected to the mobile phones of all members of the household if required. People can install multiple sensors in the house and know from which sensor was the alert message issued.
