THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state is likely to receive heavy rain in the coming hours. Following this, an orange alert has been issued in three districts and a yellow alert in nine districts. An orange alert has been sounded in Idukki, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. Idukki is on orange alert for the next three days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state is likely to receive heavy isolated rain. A yellow alert has been issued in districts apart from Kottayam and Kasaragod today.

Although there is no ban on fishing on the Kerala coast, fishermen have been asked to exercise caution as there is a possibility of high waves. Winds from the Bay of Bengal created favourable conditions for rainfall in the state.
