THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The league has expressed its dissatisfaction with KPCC president K Sudhakaran's response to MP ED Basheer's statement that he would take part in the Palestine solidarity rally organized by the CPM if invited. Sudhakaran is now attempting to clarify his position to league leaders amid the controversy surrounding his statement.
K Sudhakaran reached out to League leaders by phone and explained that his statement wasn't directed at the League. In the meantime, PMA Salam, the General Secretary of the Muslim League strongly criticized Sudhakaran's statement. Sudhakaran responded by suggesting that Salam should choose his words carefully. He also noted that the UDF's stance on cooperating with the CPM in various events applies universally.
National Secretary ET Muhammad Basheer MP stated that the League will cooperate with the CPM's Palestine solidarity rally and will definitely participate if invited. He emphasized the importance of unity at this time.
Furthermore, Basheer clarified that the decision not to attend a seminar on a single civil code is unrelated to this situation. He urged against spreading hate towards any specific religious group in connection with the Kalamassery blast. He also highlighted the importance of arresting the accused to prevent Islamophobia from spreading. ET Muhammad Basheer affirmed the League's alignment with the Congress's stance on the caste census.
