THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The communist party’s state secretariat meeting held on Friday assessed that league leader E. T. Mohammed Basheer’s favourable statement of participating in CPM organized Palestine rally has created a rupture inside the UDF camp. According to CPM, notwithstanding the Mulsim league’s decision to join the Palestine march at Kozhikode or not, the left party has already achieved significant political victory with the discord inside UDF. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s acerbic takedown of Hamas in the earlier league-conducted rally at Kozhikode also added to the worries.
Congress is still hanging on balance without a clear stand on the Palestine issue and this has invariably turned into a boon for the communist party. CPM's state secretariat has decided to allow the participation of Muslim organizations, the ones not eschewing a radical theory, in the Palestine solidarity rally.
The issues related to the 'Nava Kerala Sadas' that CPM will launch ahead of the Lok Sabha elections were also discussed. The meeting also decided that when the Chief Minister and Ministers reach the constituencies to explain the activities of the government, arrangements should be made to mobilize the maximum number of people and make the program a success. The party district committees have been instructed to get at least 5,000 people, including civic leaders, supporters and non-activists, to participate in the constituency where the program is held.
MLAs and party leaders should personally meet and invite civic leaders of each constituency for district-level meetings. The meeting discussed the decisions of the last Central Committee and the preparations related to the Lok Sabha elections. The state committee will meet again on Saturday and Sunday.
