KOCHI: Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram are among the ten fastest-growing cities in India. Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram have been featured in the report prepared by real estate services provider Cushman & Wakefield India which evaluated 17 second-tier cities. Kerala is the only state with two fast-growing cities.
The report was released by Minister MB Rajesh on the occasion of the state conference of CREDAI, an association of real estate entrepreneurs. Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram are ranked along with cities like Jaipur, Surat, Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, Indore, Nagpur, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar.
According to the report, the taste of Malayalees is rapidly changing from the view of independent houses to better apartments. Kerala cities offer premium accommodation compared to metro cities.
Kerala's urbanization rate is higher than the national average. Kerala is urbanizing faster than industrial states like Karnataka and Telangana. According to the report, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Palakkad are the other fastest-growing cities in Kerala.
Many positive factors
The report considered parameters such as population, lifestyle, international air travel index, metro development index, house price index, domestic growth and personal income. The research report says that Kerala will play a pivotal role in the next real estate development boom in the country.
