THRISSUR: KSU and Congress are set to escalate their protest following the controversial election for the chairman's post at Kerala Varma College. They have filed a petition in the High Court demanding a re-election. The ballot box was relocated from the college to the treasury in the morning. Yesterday, a peaceful class walk took place at the college under police supervision.

KSU State President Aloysius Xavier has decided to intensify the hunger strike that began in front of the collectorate on Thursday night. MPs Benny Behanan, TN Prathapan, Ramya Haridas, MLA T Siddique, DCC President Jose Vallur along with leaders Therampil Ramakrishnan, TV Chandramohan, Anil Akkara and others arrived at the scene. On Saturday evening, there will be a meeting of former college union chairpersons from various campuses to express support for Sreekuttan and Aloysius Xavier.

Dr. MK Sudarshan, the College Manager and President of the Cochin Devaswom Board clarified that the principal did not request in writing to halt the recounting at Kerala Varma College. He spoke with the principal and the returning officer over the phone. The principal halted the recounting without a written request. The Returning Officer stated that this was not in accordance with the law. It is explained that he was then instructed to follow university rules, complete the procedures, and continue counting. Students at the college gathered and collected signatures demanding a re-election. A clash between KSU and SFI activists near the college at the Padinjarekotta center on Thursday night resulted in KSU district committee member Kailas P. Nair being injured on the head.

The Kerala Varma College Union is expected to conduct a new election. If necessary, KSU Chairman S Sreekuttan filed a petition in the High Court. Initially, he announced victory by a one-vote margin. Adv. Mathew argued that the election results were overturned. This assertion is made in the petition filed by Kuzhalnadan. The case will be heard by Justice TR Ravi on Monday. The results of other elections were announced after midnight with a power outage occurring during the recount. A dozen votes were invalidated in the first round and more votes were included in the recount. External influences led to his re-election following the campaign.
