KOCHI: Senior CPM leader M M Lawrence’s autobiography has kick-started a political storm in Kerala on Friday. The book unleashed a scathing attack on former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and revealed that the internal rifts within CPM took shape from the Ernakulam district committee. The autobiography 'Ormachepp Thurakumbol' will be released on Saturday at the assembly book festival in Thiruvananthapuram.

The book is rife with criticism against Achuthanandan. According to Lawrence, it was V S who first sowed sectarian seeds within the party. The then Ernakulam District Secretary A P Varkey was used as a mere tool for V S Achuthanandan’s political gain, says Lawrence.

“ Achuthanandan always worked with a wild animosity. He had a devious mind and always feared the prospect of him losing prominence within the party. VS even loathed EMS Namboodiripad’s visit to the AKG centre in Thiruvananthapuram and always kept this grudge. He was shrewd and made timely moves to eliminate anyone who he thought was his rival.” Lawrence mentions this in the book.

Lawrence also mentioned another episode V S Achuthanandan appointing a special ‘squad’ to help turn him into a demigod-like figure across Kerala. The book describes the moves and setbacks made by VS in the state conferences held in Kozhikode, Palakkad and Alappuzha.
