THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Kerala is likely to receive heavy rainfall today. Following this, an orange alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts today. A yellow alert has been sounded in other districts except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kasargod.

People have been directed to exercise caution as the rain is likely to be accompanied by thunder and lightning. Fishing has not been banned on the Kerala coast. Heavy rain is likely over coastal areas and hilly areas of northern districts. Hill areas of Central and South Kerala may also receive heavy rain. Although there is no ban on fishing, there is a possibility of high waves along the Kerala coast.
