KOCHI: Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram are among the ten fastest-growing cities in India. This was mentioned in a report prepared by real estate services provider Cushman & Wakefield India after assessing 17 second-tier cities. According to the report, Kerala is the only state with two fast-growing cities.
Minister MB Rajesh released the report on the occasion of the state conference of CREDAI, an association of real estate entrepreneurs. Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram are ranked along with other cities like Jaipur, Surat, Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, Indore, Nagpur, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar.
According to the report, the taste of Malayalis is rapidly changing from the view of independent houses to great apartments. The cities in Kerala offer premium accommodation compared to metro cities.
Kerala's urbanization rate is higher than the national average. Kerala is urbanizing faster than industrial states like Karnataka and Telangana. According to the report, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Palakkad are the other fastest-growing cities in Kerala.
