KOCHI: A fisherman died after fishing boats collided in the sea. The dead is Jose (65) of Kollam Pallithottam. The accident happened Sunday early morning. The boats ‘Silver Star’ and ‘Noureen’ which went from Munambam from Ernakulam collided.

Noureen’, the trawling boat, hit Silver Star, which was anchored thirty kilometres from the Munambam coast after fishing. In the impact, the boat broke into two pieces and drowned. Seven people who were in the boat sustained injuries.

Those injured were rescued by the fishermen of Noureen. The body of Jose has been shifted to Paravoor taluk hospital. An investigation has started after a case was registered by the Fort Kochi Police. Initial reports said lack of light led to the accident.
