KOZHIKODE: A single bench order of the High Court banning the untimely bursting of firecrackers at places of worship in the state has led to detailed and extensive discussions. MP K Muraleedharan has stated that festivals cannot be celebrated without the fireworks display. He also added that fireworks are an integral part of festivals. He was responding to the media following the High Court's directive that fireworks should not be fired at places of worship at night.

'Fireworks are part of the celebrations in Kerala. It is only at night that you can see all the colours unfolding'. He responded that fireworks are used in all religious celebrations. He also responded to the alleged rift within the UDF. 'Congress has a good relationship with the Muslim League. No one can break this relationship. They abstained from the Palestine rally held by the CPM not based on any offer. They want the front to last more than they do. This has nothing to do with the issue of giving a third seat'. Muraleedharan said that it is a matter that should be discussed around a table.

'If you go to see Keraleeyam, you will get biscuits and tea. But ration shops and supply are out of stock. The state committee of the CPM stated that the people have taken over Keraleeyam. People go to see Keraleeyam because of Mammootty, Mohanlal, Shobhana and Yesudas, not because of their love for Pinarayi. Rather, to forget their difficulties', Muraleedharan responded.
