THRISSUR: BJP state general secretary M T Ramesh said a malign attempt was being made by certain sections to taint BJP leader Suresh Gopi’s repute in the state. The media in the state and the people know clearly who Suresh Gopi is, but there is a smear campaign undergoing to taint the actor-politician’s career in Kerala, said Ramesh. The BJP state general secretary was speaking to the media in Thrissur on Sunday.

“Suresh Gopi is a film actor after all and his response will have a tinge of drama in it. He is 80% film star and just 20% politician. Let the women media journalists decide if they want to go near him or not( as a jibe). His social work needs no introduction. Everyone knows the background of the Kozhikode incident and the politics behind it. Suresh Gopi showed probity in the controversy and apologized in a manner that no politicians in Kerala ever would. But the matter is still being dragged on and we know the politics working behind it” Ramesh responded.

Ramesh also responded to pro-Palestine rallies happening in Kerala. "CPM and Congress are doing religious polarization behind the veneer of Palestine. The Muslim League is made a tool for this. Through League, CPM is negotiating its chances with the Muslim sections of Kerala. Both parties are targeting vote bank politics.”

“A pro-Hamas rally is not being held in southern Kerala. Why only Malappuram and Kozhikode? This itself proves that CPM and Congress never care for Palestine but just want to appease the Hamas supporters. Interestingly, until now, nobody from the political spectrum in Kerala has condemned the terrorist activity conducted by Hamas.” Ramesh opined.
