KOCHI: Two non-state workers killed in Muvattupuzha, Adoopparambu. The sawmill labourers were discovered dead with neck injuries.
Mohanto and Dipankar Basuma, both hailing from Assam, have tragically lost their lives. The initial police assessment is homicide, and an investigation has been launched to identify the assailant, also believed to be a native of Assam.
In a separate incident last month in Chemmannar, Idukki, a confrontation among guest labourers resulted in injuries to three individuals. The clash occurred among workers of a tea company near Elappara. A dispute arose when some workers were informed by company officials that there was no work for them, leading to a heated argument that nearly escalated into a physical fight.
In June of the previous year, a guest worker from Bengal named Azad was killed during a dispute with his friend in Kochi. The police took Azad's friend, Zakir, also from Bengal, into custody in connection with the incident.
In Pathanamthitta, another altercation among guest workers took a violent turn, with one individual being stabbed. Co-residents engaged in a brawl, and Githu, originally from Bengal, suffered a stabbing injury. Four people sustained injuries during the altercation.
