THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There have been occasional rains in the state for the past few days but it was modest and not like the fierce downpour seen mostly during last month. And now, the Indian meteorological department has warned about heavy rains with thunder and lightning in the state from Monday. Following this, an orange alert was announced in Ernakulam and Palakkad districts.

A yellow alert has been announced in nine districts tomorrow including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram and Wayanad.

YELLOW ALERT

November 7th - Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts

November 8th - Palakkad and Malappuram districts

November 9th - Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode

IMD has also announced a yellow alert in Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.

Chance of rain is predicted due to the influence of easterly winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has informed that in case of heavy rain warning, people should evacuate as per the instructions of the authorities.
