THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary MV Govindan said that league withdrew from the Palestine solidarity rally because of Congress intimidation. He was talking to the media after the three-day CPM leadership meetings.
ET Mohammed Basheer expressed support for the CPM program as part of the nationwide outrage on the issue. League's sympathetic approach to this issue and the Uniform Civil Code happened due to the slogan raised by the CPM. Only media and Congress leaders are concerned about this. Kunhalikutty said that he could not participate due to technical issues. Although the league leadership will not participate, their members will.
Party will organize solidarity rallies in all districts to strengthen Palestine solidarity activities. All will be mobilized, except the communal forces and the Congress, which is not taking a stern stand. The UDF is not seen as a front system as it is multi-layered. Congress has no ideological unity. Whether the league will participate or not is not our problem. It does not end here. Govindan said that it was a politically and organizationally wrong approach to issue a show-cause notice to Aryadan Shoukath, who led a Palestine solidarity demonstration on behalf of a foundation in Malappuram. Govindan said that many Congress members who think like Shoukath will be included in the CPM programs.
