MUVATTUPUZHA: Two labourers from Assam were found murdered in Adooparambu on Sunday. The dead bodies of Mahanta Swargiari (30) and Dipankar Basumatari (31), who are employees of the timber mill, were found yesterday at around 2.30 pm at their residence near Adooparambu.
A deep slit has been found in the necks of the victims. Gopal Malik, a native of Odisha, who was along with the Assam natives has suspiciously gone missing from Sunday. Police said that Gopal might have tried leaving the state by train. His mobile phone is switched off.
It is reported that all three were drinking together on Saturday night. The police concluded that an argument may have led to the murder. The wife of one of the victims tried contacting her husband on Sunday morning but to no avail. This forced her to contact the mill owner and ask for her husband. The owner then sent one of his men to take a look at the house and it was then the dead bodies were found.
A special investigation team was formed under the leadership of DYSP Muhammad Riaz. The bodies are kept in the mortuary.
