THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In connection with the Kerala Varma College elections, the KSU marched to the house of Minister R Bindu and clashed. There was a physical altercation between the police and activists. Several people including a female activist sustained serious head injuries in the clash with the police. Allegations have also arisen that the police assaulted KSU members while they were being transported to the hospital.

The conflict that initiated in front of the Minister's residence at Vazhuthacaud expanded to other areas of the capital. Six KSU members are currently in custody. The activists claim that KSU leader Abhijith was surrounded and apprehended by the police without any apparent reason. They further state that Abhijith was taken away in a police vehicle and his whereabouts remain unknown.

The Palayam-Bakery junction is now completely blocked. Police have detained three KSU leaders. KSU has declared an education strike in the district for tomorrow.

KSU is demanding a re-conduction of the college elections. They have called for the resignation of Minister R Bindu and the strike may extend to Cliff House. Some members have damaged Keralayam flux boards and also obstructed the vehicle of Minister K Krishnankutty and PP Chittaranjan MLA.
