KOLENCHERY: For Villa project gardener Om Badhul Lingo, this is a second life that chanced upon him due to the mercy of a Malayali. When Om Badul started working two months ago and developed chronic headaches, the project owner took him to Aster Medi City all by himself. After examination, it was found that Om had a serious brain infection.

The only way of escape from the recurring headaches was surgery. However, the total cost required shattered Om. But the owner of the Puthenkurish project had an answer ready for the doctors, that even shocked them: “ Operation should go on, I will pay Rs 8.5 lakhs”.

The surgery was scheduled for October 7th, and Om even informed his wife in Nepal about the strange happenings. The owner then hired another Nepal native to take care of Om at the hospital during the surgery. Hearing the noble deed, the hospital also came in support and reduced Rs 3 lakh from the surgery bill. While the surgery was ongoing, the project manager waited outside the room, caring Om like his own brother.

After a week's hospital stay, Om was referred to the Kadayiruppu Community Health Center for a month's antibiotic injection. Doctors Anwar Abbas and Surabhi took care of the Nepal native here. Medicines costing Rs 2500-3000 per day were required. A few medicines were obtained with the cooperation of the doctors, but the rest were paid for.

On Sunday, another examination was conducted on Om Badhul and this time, relief and happiness came together as reports suggested the illness was completely cured. Om has now left the hospital and is staying at his friend's farm near his employer's house. He came to Kerala two years ago seeking a job and a better life.

After a two-day rest, Om Badul will return home on November 9th to his wife and children. Air tickets and pocket money are also provided by the employer. Om is a native of Ilam in Nepal. However, Om will return back to Kerala after four months.

“ I am indebted to him and I will return back”, Om said about his employer. Meanwhile, the employer wishes privacy and said “ Nothing is more important than life, So, I don't want popularity”.
