THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Satish Chandrababu Commission report recommended that the government contribution to the employees' pension fund should be increased from 10 percent to 14 percent.
Death cum retirement gratuity (DCRG) allowance on the death or retirement of employees should be allowed to the contributory pensioners as well. Those who cleared the eligibility for recruitment before 2013 should be given the option to opt for the old pension scheme. The government will have to wait till 2040 to reap the financial benefits of the contributory pension scheme.
The recommendation to grant Death Come Retirement Gratuity Allowance to Participatory Pensioners is favourable to the employees. It was included in the participatory pension implemented by the central government but was excluded when it was implemented in Kerala.
'The suggestion in the report is welcome. Protest will continue until the old pension is restored.'
