THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Idukki of Kerala in the next three hours.
A cyclonic circulation exists in the Southeast Arabian Sea. According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclonic circulation is likely to strengthen as a low pressure over the central-eastern Arabian Sea on November 8.
A yellow alert has been issued in Idukki and Ernakulam tomorrow. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Kerala is likely to experience moderate/moderate widespread rains for the next five days under the influence of cyclonic circulation. According to the Central Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places till November 9.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has also warned that high waves and storm surges of 1.1 to 1.7 meters are possible in Kerala coast and 1.0 to 1.6 meters in south Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 tonight. Fishermen and coastal residents should exercise caution. According to the Center for Oceanography and Research, there is a possibility of strong winds with a speed of 40 to 45 km per hour and at times up to 55 km per hour in the Central East Arabian Sea and the adjoining South East Arabian Sea.
