KOCHI: The division bench of the Kerala High Court has partially set aside the order issued by the single bench banning fireworks at temples at odd hours. The division bench said that the government can take a decision regarding the time schedule after looking at the situation of the respective temples. The decision should be taken according to the order of the Supreme Court.

The division bench also revoked the single bench's directive to raid temples and confiscate firecrackers. It took action on the appeal filed by the government. The division bench, which directed all the parties to file counter-affidavits before the single bench, added that the single bench should dispose of the cases in accordance with the law.

The government filed the appeal against the single bench order on Monday. In the petition, the government stated that the single bench examined matters which were beyond the scope of consideration. The government also pointed out that the single bench gave directions to conduct inspections at temples and seize firecrackers even though no one had raised complaints that firecrackers were illegally kept at temples.
