THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nazia's voice was very thin. Her words were breaking and she couldn't catch her breath. The crime committed by KSU state committee member Nazia is that she protested loudly during the strike.
Nazia can't forget the face of the policeman who used his lathi on her face, but the police are trying to hide who it is. Many people saw that the policeman immediately covered his face with a shield, knowing that he had done something wrong. Nazia, a native of Kottayam Melukavu, is awaiting surgery at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Nazia's nasal bridge was broken by the police. Due to the swelling of the bruise, the surgery could not be done immediately.
Nazia, who sees Oommen Chandy as a mentor, is studying for a degree in political science at University College.
Leaning on the bed, Nazia told Keralakaumudi: He probably wanted my voice not to be raised anymore.
I was participating in the protest march to the house of Minister R. Bindu, alleging the sabotage of student union election results of Thrissur Kerala Verma College. While questioning the policeman for insulting the girls, another policeman unexpectedly hit me with a lathi. The lathi hit me on the nose and cheek. At first, it was a numbness and then blood gushed out. I didn't even know that I screamed.
I faced even greater cruelty when I was brought to the general hospital. I reached the hospital around 2:30 in the afternoon. After taking the TT, they gave me some cotton. The bleeding was not stopping. Nothing was being done other than changing the blood-soaked cotton several times. They were ready to bandage the wound only when I cried out asking, 'Did you bring me here to kill me?'
Even though the wound was fatal, they treated it as if it were trivial. The wound was bandaged only at 4:30 in the evening. As per the instructions of the KPCC president, the workers shifted me to a private hospital.
I was at the forefront of all the protests against Minister Bindu and I think they were expressing that grudge against me through this.
Nazia has been active in party work since she was a Plus One student. She was the unit president of KSU while studying for B.Com at Nattakom Government College.
Trying to find the policeman
The police are also trying to trace the policeman who broke Nazia Mundappally's nose with a lathi during KSU's march. He is a policeman of the AR camp.
