THRISSUR: Viyyur jail inmate Kodi Suni’s friends complained about the former being beaten up by jail officials mercilessly inside the jail complex. After visiting Suni at Medical College Hospital, his friends said they had filed a complaint with the DGP, Jail DGP and the Human Rights Commission. The complaint mentions that Suni was tied up and beaten with chilli powder in his eyes.

The authorities point this is a pressure tactic to withdraw the case related to the conflict in the prison. Officials have explained that during a scuffle in the kitchen between Kodi Suni and other prisoners, chilli powder was thrown at each other and this may have resulted in the chilli getting into their eyes.

Kodi Suni was admitted to the Medical College Hospital on Sunday night. According to jail authorities, no prisoners have the guts to touch Kodi Suni inside the jail and they denied every rumour of Suni getting beaten inside the jail.

The scuffle took off after a difference in serving mutton curry inside the kitchen. Many prisoners entered the fight as Suni's aid. Most of the prisoners were intoxicated at the time of the fight. According to officials, Suni demands to be shifted to Kannur Central Jail, so he is plotting new scenes.
