SALEM: A student grabbed the knife from her teacher, who tried to sexually abuse her threatening with the knife, and stabbed him with it. The 30-year-old teacher seriously injured is undergoing treatment in the hospital. He has been identified as Sakthidasan of Ettipatti in Alagiri Nagar, Dharmapuri. The incident happened near Salem.

Sakthidasan tried to sexually abuse the girl studying at a private NEET coaching centre. The girl of Pudukottai was staying in a hostel and studying. He tried to rape her after threatening her with a knife when she came to get a book from him. Unyielding to the threat, the girl grabbed the knife from him and then stabbed him on his stomach. She then fled from the place. She also sustained minor injuries.

The staff of the lodge who came hearing a noise saw him lying in a pool of blood. They immediately informed the Alagapuram police and admitted him to Salem Government Hospital. The police have registered a case against him. He will be arrested once discharged from the hospital. It is not clear whether he has misbehaved with anyone else earlier.
