BAREILLY: A woman was sentenced to life imprisonment for setting her husband ablaze in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The said woman, Premshree (26), brutally murdered her husband Satyaveer Singh for having 'dark complexion' and being 'ugly'.
They lived in Bichetta, Fatehgarh. Premshree found her husband ugly and deliberately neglected him. She had asked for a divorce several times but Satyaveer was committed to the marriage. With this, the grudge doubled. The couple had a baby in November 2018. Premshree continued her demand for divorce, but Satyaveer refused.
Satyaveer was brutally murdered on the night of April 15, 2019. While the husband was sleeping, she poured petrol on his body and set him on fire. Premshree's attempt was to make it look like suicide. Premshree had burns on her body but she said it happened while trying to save Satyaveer. The information about the brutal murder came to light following a complaint filed by Satyaveer's brother, who expressed suspicion in the death. Earlier, Satyaveer had given a dying statement to the police that his wife had poured petrol and set him on fire.
After receiving a complaint to investigate the death of his brother, the police intensified the interrogation. With this, Premshree confessed to the crime.
