THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the gangsters and mafias became friends with the police, the violence in the state came to an end. This is the same with the imposition of KAAPA and the detention. Policemen with gang ties are not excluded from law-and-order duties. Goondas roam the country. Supervisory officers are not taking action.
Earlier, Vigilance Chief TK Vinodkumar had openly said that from the sand mafia to the worst criminals are friends of the policemen. Strict action was taken against the policemen who had gangster-mafia connection after the brother of the Chief Minister's Special Private Secretary R. Rajasekaran Nair’s brother Sreekumaran Nair was beaten up and thrown into a well. Then action was taken against some policemen who were related to gangs. Policemen with mafia connections have been transferred at Mangalapuram station. However, due to pressure from politicians and some police organizations, the process has to be abandoned.
According to the police report, the collectors impose kappa against the goons. However, an attempt is made to save the goons by including wrong information in the application to the collector.
The gangsterism of the police is by leaking the information of the gangsters, closing the cases and imprisoning the opposing gangs. Bribes will be given monthly.
Phones of rivals will be hacked for gang leaders. Complaints will be threatened and withdrawn.
Consistency for land deals and settlement of money transactions.
The decision to file a criminal case against the gang-related policemen was not implemented. Secret cells to detect gangster-criminal nexus are also defunct. Punishment is good behaviour, training, suspension and transfer even if gang affiliation is found.
