KOCHI: The condition of Kozhikode native Allan Shuhaib (23), the second accused in the Kozhikode Pantheeramkavu Maoist case, who was found in a weak state after taking an overdose of sleeping pills, has improved. The incident took place on Tuesday night at the flat of Allan's mother's sister in Edachira. He is in the emergency department of a private hospital in Kakkanad.
Allan had sent a message to his friends saying that he was committing suicide. 'I'm tired of this life. Death is better than living with one's head bowed down. This system is what killed me. They are saying that I am a terrorist. But they are the only ones showing real violence. Sitting in the seat of power, they are playing with the life of the common man. I fought the battle to bring an end to this. However, I didn't have the strength for it. Let strong men carry on this fight...' Allen wrote in a lengthy note.
Kozhikode native Allan was staying in the flat of his maternal sister and actress Sajitha Madathil in Edachira in Kakkanad as the Pantheeramkavu UAPA case was being tried in the NIA court in Kochi. Allan was found unconscious in his room on Tuesday night after returning from the trial. It is indicated that he had taken more than 30 sleeping pills.
Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner of Police reached the hospital. The other accused in the Pantheeramkavu case are Thaha Fazal, CP Usman and Vijith Vijayan. They were present in the NIA court for trial yesterday.
