THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister GR Anil said in the cabinet meeting that if the government does not pay at least Rs 1524 crores to Supplyco as part of market intervention, the civil supplies system will stall. This is based on the political decision of the CPI. Minister V Sivankutty, who supported this demand, also demanded that the arrears of the school lunch scheme be cleared. With this, Minister K Krishnankutty did not put forward the demand for allocation of Rs 403 crores as electricity subsidy amount.
Rs 200 crores are owed to head teachers under school lunch scheme. Rs 50 crore was agreed to be paid after the intervention of the High Court. V Sivankutty also said that the share given to each child for midday meal should be increased. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan directed the Finance Department to pay a portion of the outstanding amount of SupplyCo.
