KOCHI: There is a ban in constructing the set of Prithviraj’s film ‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’. The action of the municipality is against the construction of the set by filling the field with soil illegally. A model of the Guruvayur temple is being built at Karattupallikara in the 12th ward under the ownership of Jacob Joy, son of Vettikanakkudy V C Joy. The municipal corporation issued the stop memo based on the complaint that the field was being filled with soil.
The construction of the set was being done by about 60 artists for about a month using plywood, cords, steel square pipe and polythene sheet. Municipal Chairman Biju John Jacob said that permission was not obtained for the construction of the set. Therefore, permission cannot be given in the area, he said.
The film crew said that they have submitted an application for permission to build the set and have been informed that it will be considered in the council meeting. V C Joy alleged that the personal interest of some councilors was the reason for issuing the stop memo. He also said that the stop memo was issued in his name for the construction of the land in his son's name. The film is directed by Vipin Das.
