THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There are high chances for rain intensifying in Kerala, predicted IMD on Thursday. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts are likely to experience moderate rain with thunder and also strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph, the Meteorological Department said.

Windows should be always closed during thunderstorms and rains. Stay inside the building and try not to touch the wall or floor as much as possible during thunderstorms. Unplug household appliances. Avoid proximity to electrical appliances during thunderstorms. Lightning protection conductors can be placed on top of buildings to protect them from lightning. A surge protector can be fitted for the safety of electrical equipment.
The IMD has also given appropriate warning to fishermen tribes while people are advised not to venture into the sea during these rough hours.
