tea-shop

KOCHI: Shamsuddin does not know that unknown person who gives money to feed ten people every day. But those 10 meals which is his ambition will always be at noon at 'Shamsukka's Tea Shop' on Ashoka Road, Ernakulam. The money for the meals is delivered every week by Shamsuddin's (61) brother's friend. This has been the practice for two years.

Shamsuddin buys a meal with sambar, fish curry, pickles and fried fish for Rs 40. Food is given to needy children and those who have no means of food, who live and study in Ernakulam from different places and come to the shop regularly.

Shamsuddin’s tea shop opens at 5.30 am. Local food is served in the morning. The needy should take the food and eat. Additional curry is given free. Shamsuddin will serve tea only. Those who are drunk will not get food. Parcel is not given. Wife: Jamila. Children: Shesin and Mehsin.

'This is not just a hotel; it is a home for those who come here. Food will be given to those who are needy. Whoever gives the free food is a good man".
