KALPETTA: A helicopter search was conducted in Perya area on Thursday for three Maoists who fled to the forest. Three Maoists, including two women, escaped from Aneesh's house in Chapparam to the forest during a police action.

On the night of the incident, the police and Thunderbolt had started searching for them in the nearby forest area. As per reports, an inspection was also conducted using a drone on Thursday. Police surrounded Aneesh's house while they were charging their mobile and laptop. There was firing and three people ran away in between. Their laptops and mobile phones could not be found. The police recovered one INSAS and four local guns. INSAS is used by the Indian Army. How this became available to the Maoists is also being investigated.

Anti-terrorism squads of neighboring states are waiting for permission to interrogate the arrested persons as they have cases linked to three states. A large police team has been stationed in and around Chapparath Colony in Perya on Thursday.
