THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Enforcement Directorate is on the move to acquire maximum evidence in the shocking Rs 101 crore fraud committed in the Kandala Cooperative Bank. It is reported that former president N. Bhasurangan may be arrested within a few days’ time. Bhasurangan, who was in a private hospital after feeling unwell during interrogation, was discharged on Friday afternoon. Later Bhasurangan and his son Akhiljith were interrogated together at the hospital.

The bank accounts of the father-son duo and other family members were frozen following the ED investigation. WhatsApp chats and information on four seized phones have been sent for scientific testing. ED is gathering evidence by scrutinizing the documents seized in the 40-hour-long raid. Inspection of bank branches has been completed.

Those with large deposits in Kandala Bank will be issued notice to disclose the source of the money. Notice will also be issued to those who have obtained loans by default. It is being checked whether black money and benami transactions have taken place under the guise of loan transactions.

Documents such as bank deposits, loans and collateral were seized. ED also suspects that several documents have been doctored. A detailed investigation is going on regarding Akhiljith's money transactions. The family's land deals are also being investigated. ED has received information about party leaders having benami deposits in the bank.
