KOCHI: At the end of the second day of the State Special School Festival, Thrissur maintained the top spot with 363 points. A top performance in the visually impaired category helped the district easily settle on the top.

Thiruvananthapuram is second with 305 points, Malappuram is third with 286 points, Kottayam is fourth with 262 points and Kozhikode is fifth with 256 points. Hosts Ernakulam are leading in the mentally challenged category with 84 points. The districts of Idukki (82), Pathanamthitta (80), Thiruvananthapuram (79) and Thrissur (78) are in the second to fifth positions in the same category.

Thrissur is leading in the hearing impaired category with 161 points. Among the schools, St.Clare Oral School For The Deaf, Manickamangalam is leading with 48 points. Tiruvalla CSI VHSS for the Deaf with 43 points and Cherkala Marthoma HSS for the Deaf, Kasaragod with 42 points are close behind in the second and third positions.

Kottayam district leads with 144 points in the visually impaired category. Govt. School for the Blind Olassa is leading with 63 points. Kolathara Calicut Higher Secondary School for the Handicapped (48) in Kozhikode and HKCMM Blind School in Palakkad (40) are in second and third positions.
