MUNDAKAYAM: Neighbour stabbed a man to death in front of his mother because of previous enmity. Joel Joseph (27), son of Jojo and Philomena, of Inchiyani Alummoodu was murdered. The accused Onakayam Bijoy (Varghese Chacko-42) was arrested. Bijoy's wife had left him due to his bad character. Quarrels were frequent alleging that Joel's family was behind Bijoy's wife leaving him.

At around 8 am today, Bijoy reached the spot while Joel was unloading coffee beans. An argument broke out between them and it resulted in Joel's murder. Joel was deeply wounded by the knife and died instantly. Bijoy, who entered the house and locked himself in after people started rushing in, was arrested by the police. He is an accused in several cases, including for insulting women. Joel's brother Job is working abroad. The body was shifted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. Burial will be at 2 pm at Holy Family Church Cemetery in Inchiyani on Sunday.
