pma-salam

PMA Salam, state general secretary of Muslim League, said that there is no situation to leave UDF now. There is no such discussion in the league. PMA Salam told Kerala Kaumudi that if the UDF is to be strengthened, there should be no clash within the parties.

Will the league shift to the left?

This question itself is irrelevant. We are an important component of a front. So far there have been no problems that would make us switch from UDF. Why is this question not asked to any other political party? There has been no such discussion or consultation in the league.

How does the League view CPM's appeasement?

I don't know if what CPM is doing is appeasement. We believe that we were invited to participate in matters of public interest. The Palestinian issue is not the issue of any party or community. It is the problem of the human race. The agony that the people there are suffering is shocking to the human conscience. The position of the league is that CPM and Congress should all respond against it. It's just that the league finds it difficult to participate when there is sectarianism and discrimination in the response.

Didn't CPM create a bridge with Samasta?

We have no comment on that. The league never said so.

There are rumours that the dominant faction of the league will go to the left under the leadership of PK Kunhalikutty. It is also heard that the stand will be made after the Lok Sabha election results?

We cannot respond to such rumours. So there is no such discussion. There is no faction under the leadership of Kunhalikutty. Everyone thinks the same way. Kunhalikutty is the leader of the entire Muslim League. Panakkad Sadiq Ali Thangall and Kunhalikutty are the leaders of the league. When the party takes a decision, everyone stands by it. There is no need to move away from UDF now.

Is the League unhappy with the infighting in the Congress?

The league wants to strengthen the UDF. For this, the constituent parties should be strengthened and there should be unity within the parties. No confrontations should be there. Not only the Congress but all the constituent parties, including the League, should be united. The position of the league is that the respective party leaders should take the necessary steps for that.

Did you burn your hands handling the Samastha issue?

I have not dealt with the subject of Samastha. I think we can end this discussion.
