KOCHI: Amal Nair (38), of LIG 767, Panampally Nagar, one of the owners of the closed 'Pappadavada' restaurant in Kaloor, was again caught by the police with 14.75 grams of MDMA. The Cheranellur police had earlier arrested him for delivering MDMA from Bengaluru through courier. He was arrested while making a deal even after being released on bail. He used to put MDMA covers on the places or vehicles as per demand, after which photographs are taken and sent to them. The customers pay him online.

Amal was found near the Ravipuram crematorium on Friday night by the night patrolling team. The drug was found on subsequent check. The South Police seized a digital strap and envelopes used for weighing drugs and Rs 75,000 from his house. Amal was first arrested in September last year. After his accomplices were trapped, he was hiding in a flat in Electronics Park, Bengaluru. It is said that he turned to drug dealing after his hotel business collapsed. The drug was supplied by a Nigerian in Bengaluru. He was arrested under the leadership of South SHO Faisal.

Narcotics through courier

Narcotics are sent to Kochi as couriers from Bengaluru under fake addresses. A courier was sent to the address of the engineering company in Edayar but could not be received. Amal was trapped that day by an investigation focused on those who came looking for the parcel.
