CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has given permission to prosecute the IPS officer, Balveer Singh, facing charges of pulling out the teeth of crime suspects. Permission was given to prosecute Ambasamudram former SP Balveer Singh, presently under suspension, 39-year-old Singh hails from Rajasthan.

The complaint raised is that after inserting a big stone in the accused's mouth, he used to pull out the teeth of suspects and squeezed their testicles. Stones were stuffed in the mouths of the accused so that their screams would not be heard outside. Many were subjected to his cruel punishments. Many were reluctant to file a complaint against Balveer Singh fearing trouble. However, in last March, the atrocities of Balveer Singh and his accomplices came to light. After a preliminary inquiry, Chief Minister Stalin suspended Balveer Singh. Almost fifteen people came forward with complaints. A groom was in a critical condition after his testicles were squeezed.

There are currently four cases against Balveer Singh. Tamil Nadu crime branch's investigation has been completed in all four cases. A charge sheet will be filed soon. Balveer Singh, who was a mechanical engineer, got IPS in 2020. He was working in Indian Oil Corporation before that.
